OAS backup and recovery tool

Oracle released "Oracle Application Server Backup and Recovery Tool" couple of years ago.

Oracle Metalink note: 259145.1offers a abstract about this tool.

The downloadable .source is at http://otn.oracle.com/products/ias/hi_av/9iAS_BR.zip, which support versions: 9.0.2.x.x, 9.0.3.x.x, and  9.0.4.x.x.

I got a chance to test it and found it very helpful. The more convinient way is that this tool can automatically detect the installation modules on your server, and therefore do proper backup configuration for you.

It's also functional if repository database is installed with infrastructure module. By using this tool, we can do backup and recovery under the following scenario:
  • corrupted or lost datafile (full recovery)

  • corrupted or lost control file (full recovery)
  • point-in-time recovery
