As announced by Oracle Official, Oracle is committed to improving the oracle metalink interface by providing a new interface on that. I spent 10 minutes today to have a quick look at this new interface and found that that’s real a great endeavor to improving the customer support experiences.

Oracle shows us a newly designed interface, looks like one of software management software. This new interface of matalink is called "Software Configuration Manager". Oracle claimed that it will offer "proactive problem avoidance" and more features. All of these can be accessed like navigation in Toad, a thick-client oracle development environment. Even though, oracle metalink is absolute web application.

The improvement on part of "Service Requests" is giving me a Web 2.0 experience, instead of boring text extraction, which confuse me a lot and make me unhappy read it  because of poor visibility. In new interface, the Ask and Answer parts have been highlighted with different color and the layout has been 100% re-designed. What a reading experience with it!

By the way, the new interface of oracle metalink is available at https://csm.oracle.com/CSP/ui/index.html for testing. It’s good to try.
