I just read a AskTom thread about event 10053. As we known, event 10053 is used to trace CBO choices. In this posting, Tom explains couple of unclear issues about trace file with event 10053.
They are:
- How CBO works and what impacts CBO in determining execution plan?
- undocumented parameters is strongly required to be NOT changed without official guidance
- use cardinality of table to diagnosis query problem
- explanation of what the abbreviations mean in trace file
- the process of sample case diagonisis
- Tom’s recommendation with using event 10053
